2004 Lions' Pride Marching Band
The 2004 Lions' Pride Marching Band under the direction of Ms. Brandi Jason performed its show, Spectrum, at marching band competitions around the region. Spectrum consists of three movements: To Dance in the Secret Garden, Simple Gifts, and Infernal Dance and Finale from Firebird Suite. The band competes primarily in Tournament of Bands events in the Group I category. Members of the 2004 Marching Band are Drum Major: Tricia Melka; Assistant Drum Major: Brian Polk; Woodwinds: Billy Marshall (Captain), Julia Eckert, Megan Franey, Jennifer Rosso, Chelsea Dubbs, David Miller, and Brett Reynolds; Brass: Jared Schneiderman (Captain), Brian Polk, Josh Robbins, Dan Brown, Caitlin McDowell, Jennifer Morse, Andrew Llewellyn, and Spencer Heaps; Battery: Brandon Ambush (Captain), Keith Brown, Tyler Conoway, Brian Dressler, and Trevor White; Front Ensemble: John Davenport (Captain), D.J. Andrucyk, Mary Andrucyk, and Nicholas Murphy; Colorguard: Christine DeBenedictis, Kaycee James (Captains), Ashlyn Cohill, Megan Cohill, Ashley Fuller, Casey Kimmey, Gabrielle Mullen, and Carrie Quattlander. The marching band staff include Director: Brandi Jason, Instructors: Helen Coffield, Dave Fisher, Tom Vail, Debbie Bailey, Brian Merryman, Allen Kessell, and Kathy Higdon.
Competition Schedule and Results:
Sept. 18 - South Carroll High School Cavalier Classic: Liberty took 1st place out of 4 bands in Group 1 with a score of 73.3. The band received awards for Best Percussion, Best Visual, and Best Auxiliary. Oct. 2 - Westminster High School Home Show: Liberty placed 4th out of 10 bands in Group I with a score of 75.95. Oct. 9 - Carlisle High School Keystone Invitational: Liberty took 2nd place out of 4 Group I bands with a score of 76.80. The band received the award for Best Music. Oct. 16 - James Madison University Parade of Champions: A total of 39 bands attended this annual classic in Harrisonburg, VA, which is adjudicated by Bands of America. Liberty competed against 14 bands in their size bracket and although Liberty was the smallest, the band's outstanding performance captured 3rd place. Oct. 23 - Maryland State Championship: Liberty placed 3rd out of 9 Group I bands with a score of 82.15. Oct. 30 (afternoon) - East Pennsboro HS, Enola, PA: East Pennsboro cancelled their event because of poor field conditions. Oct. 30 (evening) - Lebanon HS, Lebanon, PA: Liberty competed against 3 Group I bands to take 2nd place with a score of 84.95. Nov. 6 - Chapter 5 Championship - Century HS: Liberty came in 4th out of 7 bands in Group I with a score of 86.10. Nov. 14 - Atlantic Coast Championship - Scranton, PA: Liberty performed a tremendous show, placing 19th out of the top 28 Group I finalists with a score of 83.20.
