It’s a beautiful night here in Carlisle, PA where the Lion’s Pride marching band is competing for the second time today. The band earned a 1st place showing in their afternoon competition with a score of 83.9! Tonight there are two other bands in Group I - Brunswick and Biglersville. Hopefully the Lions can pull off another great show and improve upon their afternoon score. Good luck and stay warm.

Ok. I’m back. Funnel cake was calling.
Intermission is over, and Thomas Stone is about to take the field. They are the first of five Group I bands to perform tonight. They are performing songs by the band Styx.
North Carrol is up next. Their pit is located out in the middle of the field. The guard has suitcases. The band has very quick footwork.
Biglerville just finished up. They are usually very good, and they did not disappoint.
Next up is Century. They were a Group II last year. They are wearing green jackets with gold buttons and trim. They also have their pit located in the middle of the field. They are doing some Tai Chi to start their show.
Ok. Liberty is on the field next. Go Lions! Taking a blog break now to video tape the show.
(taping, taping, … taping)
It was a great performance by Liberty. We’re all so proud. Now on to the results.

We are only moments away from starting this year’s Extravagana. It is a beautiful night, and there are sounds of bands warming up and smells of French fries and funnel cake. The field is empty now, but it won’t be for long.
The first band is Frederick High School, a Group III band. Their show is called Pirates of the Carribean. They are on the field, and the guard flags have lots of holes. Very pirate-like.
Next up is Walkersville in their traditional blue jackets. Walkersville is a Group II band this year, and their show is called A Contessa’s Love. It looks like they are ready to go, and the drum major is sporting a fan and has a flute solo.
More later …

The annual Fine Arts Yard Sale is off and running dispite the attempts of Tropical Storm Hannah to dampen our spirits. All the items are inside, and the die-hard bargin hunters are here browsing. All unsold items will be donated at the end of the day.

I’m here at LHS waiting for the full marching band to come out for the 2008 group photo. This year’s guard uniform is really nice, and the drum major dress is spectacular.
OK, they are ready for the group photo.
What a nice looking group.

Hi. I’m glad you made your way to the IMPs Blog web page. As part of the new website, we thought it would be a good idea to blog about what’s been going on with the LHS Instrumental Music Program (IMP). This space will be updated as new events occur and as new ideas want to be shared. Or, maybe we’ll just write because we hope anyone (just anyone) may be listening. Either way, check back often to see what’s been happening.
